Lex Autolease is the UKs largest fleet funding and management specialist and has worked closely with the National Forest since 2006 to support this bold and unique regeneration project, to create a vast new vibrant forest in the heart of England.

The key aim of the partnership is to support the transformation of a landscape, create ecological benefits, connect communities and support the local economy to thrive over the long term.

The partnership to date has created:

  • Two new woodlands at Pick Triangle and Packington, with over 120,000 trees planted, in the central former coalfield area of the Forest
  • A community programme to support engagement by local people and young people with the new woodland at Packington
  • A new multi user track linking the 16,000 people living in the communities of Castle and Church Gresley with the Heart of the Forest area and all its attractions, network of trails, open green spaces and woodlands
  • and Lex Autolease colleagues have volunteered regularly to plant trees such as oak, silver birch, wild cherry and lime; create access routes and new pathways through woodlands; prune young trees into shape, and they have carried out site works within woodlands and other habitats across the forest. Theyve also taken part in events such as the National Forest 10k and the National Forest Walking Festival.

The partnership now enters an exciting new phase. Over the next two years Lex Autolease will support a new area of forest creation near the villages of Ratby and Groby, which gives the first opportunity to engage a whole generation of young people in the design, creation and management of a new woodland site right next to their schools. The partnership will also create a new multi user surfaced trail linking over 50,000 people in Moira, Woodville and Swadlincote to the National Forest Cycle Centre at Hicks Lodge and its miles of safe off road cycling.

Tim Porter, Managing Director of Lex Autolease, in supporting the new phase of the partnership comments:

Im really proud that colleagues in Lex Autolease continue to make such a significant and practical investment in the environment and communities in which we operate, to help realise our vision of becoming the leading environmentally-responsible vehicle leasing business in the UK.
